The home of Bethune-Cookman College founder and famous civil rights leader and educator, Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune, is a two-story frame structure dating back to 1914. Dr. Bethune lived here until her death in 1955 and is buried nearby on the grounds adjacent to the home. Dedicated as the Mary McLeod Bethune Foundation in 1953, the building contains numerous citations, plaques, artifacts and photographs that chronicle the history of this nationally-recognized college.
